How to Use This 2026 Printable Calendar
The Shape of 2026
2026 is a common year of 365 days — 52 weeks and one day — beginning on Thursday, January 1 and ending on Thursday, December 31. That makes Thursday the only weekday to appear 53 times. The year holds 104 weekend days and 261 weekdays, and once the eleven federal holidays are removed, 250 federal working days remain. February has 28 days, and there is no February 29 to plan around.
The Eleven Federal Holidays of 2026
The federal calendar repeats the same eleven observances each year, but the weekdays they land on move:
- New Year's Day — Thursday, January 1
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day — Monday, January 19
- Presidents' Day — Monday, February 16
- Memorial Day — Monday, May 25
- Juneteenth — Friday, June 19
- Independence Day — Saturday, July 4, observed Friday, July 3
- Labor Day — Monday, September 7
- Columbus Day — Monday, October 12
- Veterans Day — Wednesday, November 11
- Thanksgiving — Thursday, November 26
- Christmas Day — Friday, December 25
Eight of the eleven fall on a Monday or a Friday and therefore extend a weekend. Independence Day is the only one landing on a Saturday, which moves the observed closure back to the preceding Friday. Three — New Year's Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving — sit mid-week and break the week where they fall. Memorial Day on May 25 is the earliest date that holiday can take.
How Capacity Varies Across the Year
The 250 federal working days are not spread evenly. February is the shortest month at 28 days, and its 20 weekdays become 19 federal working days once Presidents' Day is removed. November is the only month carrying two closures, which drops it below every other month of the fourth quarter. A plan that assumes roughly 21 working days every month will run long in some months and short in others, and the shortfall tends to surface in the last quarter. The eleven holidays are also worth mapping individually, because the difference between a Monday closure and a Wednesday one is a full working day in the weeks around it.
Using the Year View
A single-page year calendar is for seeing the whole span, not for planning inside it. The method that works is to fill it in layers: fixed dates first — the holidays listed above, school terms, and anything that cannot move — then external deadlines such as filing dates and renewals, then the seasonal work that belongs to particular months, and finally whatever capacity is left. Once the first three passes are written in, the remaining space is smaller than it looks. Writing in monthly anchors first — a review in March, a mid-year checkpoint in June, a close in November — gives the year a rhythm that the individual months can then be planned against.
Printing the Year
This 2026 printable calendar fits one sheet of A4 or US Letter paper. Each of the twelve months has its own page as well, with day counts, the first weekday, and the federal dates for that month already worked out. Printing the year sheet for the wall and one month at a time for the desk is the combination that gets the most out of both. Use the print button for an immediate copy, or download the PDF to print later or share a printed set with someone planning the same twelve months.
